Teoman Alpay Biography

Teoman Alpay was a prolific and highly influential Turkish composer, arranger, and pianist, renowned for his significant contributions to Turkish film music and popular şarkı (art songs).Born in Balıkesir, Turkey, Alpay studied violin and piano. He gained widespread fame in the 1960s with the song "Lorke", composed for the film of the same name. He became one of the most sought-after composers for Yeşilçam (Turkish cinema), creating memorable scores and songs for hundreds of films. He collaborated extensively with legendary singers like Zeki Müren, composing many of Müren's biggest hits. Despite losing his sight later in life, he continued composing and arranging. He received numerous awards, including the State Artist title in 1998.
