Secret Garden
Irish-Norwegian new age music duo known for ethereal compositions blending classical, folk, and Celtic influences.
Formed in 1994 by Norwegian composer Rolf Løvland (b. 1955) and Irish violinist Fionnuala Sherry (b. 1962). Won Eurovision Song Contest 1995 with 'Nocturne'. Released multi-platinum debut album 'Songs from a Secret Garden' (1995). Active for three decades with 12 studio albums.
- Their Eurovision 1995 victory was historic: 'Nocturne' featured only 24 words of lyrics amid extensive instrumental passages, challenging song contest norms.
- Rolf Løvland previously won Eurovision in 1985 as co-writer of Bobbysocks' 'La det swinge', making him the first double-winning composer in contest history.
- Their breakthrough album 'Songs from a Secret Garden' (1995) sold over 1 million copies in the US alone, remaining on Billboard's New Age chart for 101 weeks.
