Tupac Shakur, known professionally as 2Pac, was a highly influential American rapper, songwriter, actor, and social activist. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most significant rappers of all time.Born in East Harlem, NYC, Shakur moved to California in 1988.He gained fame as a backup dancer and rapper for Digital Underground before launching his solo career.Released critically acclaimed albums '2Pacalypse Now' (1991), 'Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z...' (1993), 'Me Against the World' (1995), and the double album 'All Eyez on Me' (1996).Became a central figure in the East Coast–West Coast hip hop rivalry.Survived a shooting in New York City in 1994.Served eight months in prison in 1995 on sexual abuse charges before being bailed out by Suge Knight's Death Row Records.Fatally shot in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996; died six days later.
