- Feliciano was born with congenital glaucoma, resulting in total blindness by birth. He learned guitar using a tin can and developed a unique fingerstyle technique.
- His performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the 1968 World Series was highly controversial for its slow, bluesy interpretation, drawing both criticism and praise but significantly boosting his profile.
- "Feliz Navidad" was recorded in one take during a July 1970 session. Its simple bilingual lyrics and catchy melody made it a global phenomenon, earning massive royalties.
- He is one of the few artists with two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame: one for recording and one for live performance.
- Married to Susan Omillian since 1982, they have three children and reside in Connecticut after many years in California.
