Aerosmith
Iconic American rock band, often dubbed "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band", known for their blues-influenced hard rock, powerful ballads, and electrifying live performances.
Formed in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1970 by Steven Tyler (vocals), Joe Perry (guitar), Tom Hamilton (bass), Joey Kramer (drums), and Ray Tabano (soon replaced by Brad Whitford on guitar). They achieved massive success in the 1970s with albums like 'Toys in the Attic' and 'Rocks', faced severe drug addiction issues leading to near-breakup in the late 70s/early 80s, staged a major comeback in the late 80s and 90s, and have remained active with tours and occasional albums into the 21st century.
- The band's early success was fueled by heavy drug and alcohol abuse, earning core members Steven Tyler and Joe Perry the nickname "The Toxic Twins". Their addiction nearly destroyed the band by the early 1980s.
- After Perry and Whitford left for solo projects, the band struggled. Their career was revitalized in 1984 when Perry and Whitford returned, leading to the hugely successful album 'Permanent Vacation' (1987) and the even bigger 'Pump' (1989).
- Steven Tyler suffered a near-fatal fall from the stage during a performance in South Dakota in 2009, resulting in a broken shoulder and head injury that required surgery.
- The band embarked on a lucrative multi-year residency show, "Aerosmith: Deuces are Wild", at the Park MGM hotel in Las Vegas starting in 2019.
- Guitarist Joe Perry collapsed on stage during a performance with The Hollywood Vampires in Brooklyn in 2016 due to cardiac arrest but recovered fully.
- The band has experienced numerous lineup changes, primarily revolving around the lead guitar position (Joe Perry left and rejoined twice, Brad Whitford left and rejoined once).
