Fun. (band)
American indie pop band known for anthemic hits and Grammy-winning success in the early 2010s.
Formed in New York City in 2008 by Nate Ruess (ex-The Format), Andrew Dost (ex-Anathallo), and Jack Antonoff (ex-Steel Train). Released two studio albums: 'Aim and Ignite' (2009) and 'Some Nights' (2012). Won two Grammy Awards in 2013, including Song of the Year for 'We Are Young'. Entered indefinite hiatus in 2015 as members pursued solo careers.
- Their breakout single 'We Are Young' (feat. Janelle MonĂ¡e) spent six weeks at #1 on Billboard Hot 100 after being featured in Glee and a Chevrolet Super Bowl ad.
- The band faced internal tensions during their sudden fame; frontman Nate Ruess later admitted to panic attacks and creative burnout during the 'Some Nights' tour.
- All members achieved significant post-hiatus success: Jack Antonoff became a Grammy-winning producer (Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey), Nate Ruess released a solo album, and Andrew Dost composed film scores.
- Despite fan demand, the band has repeatedly denied reunion rumors, stating in a 2022 interview they 'prefer to preserve the magic of that chapter'.
