Plain White T's: Biography of the Pop-Punk Band

American pop-punk and alternative rock band best known for their Grammy-nominated hit "Hey There Delilah".Formed in Lombard, Illinois, in 1997 by high school friends Tom Higgenson (vocals) and Ken Fletcher (drums). Gained mainstream success in 2006-2007 with "Hey There Delilah" from their album "Every Second Counts". The band has released multiple albums, toured extensively, and maintained a significant fanbase primarily within the pop-punk and alternative rock scenes.
  • "Hey There Delilah" was inspired by Olympic runner Delilah DiCrescenzo. Higgenson wrote it after meeting her once, crafting a fictional longing narrative. The song earned two Grammy nominations (Song of the Year, Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group).
  • Actor Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson became unexpected advocates for the song after Wilson heard it. Hanks reportedly called radio stations requesting they play it, helping boost its popularity before major radio picked it up.
