John Frederick Coots was an American songwriter best known for co-writing the famous Christmas song "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town." He collaborated with Haven Gillespie on the song, which was first introduced by Eddie Cantor on his radio show in 1934. The song quickly became a holiday classic and has been covered by numerous artists over the years. Interestingly, Coots initially didn't think the song would be successful, but it went on to become one of the most beloved and enduring Christmas tunes of all time.
