The French Suites, BWV 812–817, are six suites which Johann Sebastian Bach wrote for the clavier between 1722 and 1725. Although they were not given the title 'French' by Bach himself, the name stuck to distinguish them from the English Suites and Partitas. Suite No. 4 in E-flat major, BWV 815, follows the standard Baroque suite structure, typically featuring an Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, and Gigue, with additional Galanteries (optional dances) like Minuets or Gavottes inserted between the Sarabande and Gigue. This suite is celebrated for its elegant melodies, intricate counterpoint, and the perfect balance between dance rhythm and profound musical expression, showcasing Bach's mastery in composing for the keyboard.
