"We Wish You a Merry Christmas" is a popular English Christmas carol from the West Country of England. The modern version was arranged by Arthur Warrell in 1935 and published under the title "A Merry Christmas: West Country Carol." Warrell was a music professor at the University of Bristol who organized the Bristol University Madrigal Society. His arrangement helped popularize the carol beyond its regional origins and establish it as the Christmas standard we know today.
