Richard Strauss - Macbeth, Op. 23

Macbeth, Op. 23, is a symphonic poem written by Richard Strauss. Composed between 1886 and 1888, it was his first tone poem in the genre he would later master. The work is inspired by William Shakespeare's play of the same name and depicts the character's ambition, treachery, and eventual downfall through powerful and dramatic orchestral writing, characteristic of the late Romantic era.
