Georges Bizet - Old Provençal Carol - March of the Three Kings

"March of the Three Kings" is a piece from Georges Bizet's incidental music to Alphonse Daudet's play "L'Arlésienne" (1872). Bizet adapted this melody from an old Provençal Christmas carol known as "La Marche des Rois Mages" (The March of the Magi Kings), which possibly dates back to the 13th century. The melody is traditionally associated with the farandole, a lively chain dance from Provence. Despite the initial failure of the play, Bizet's music, including this majestic march, gained tremendous popularity and remains one of his most recognizable works, showcasing his ability to incorporate folk elements into classical composition.
