"Allein Gott in der Höh sei Ehr" (To God alone on high be glory) is a Lutheran chorale hymn, whose text and melody are attributed to Nikolaus Decius. It is a German paraphrase of the Gloria in excelsis Deo. Johann Sebastian Bach used this chorale melody extensively in his cantatas and other sacred works, creating multiple harmonizations. The setting cataloged as BWV 260 is one of his four-part chorale harmonizations of this melody, which was widely used in Lutheran liturgy.
