"Komm, komm, mein Herze steht dir offen" is a beautiful and intimate soprano aria from Johann Sebastian Bach's Pentecost cantata, BWV 74 "Wer mich liebet, der wird mein Wort halten". Composed in 1725, the aria is known for its childlike openness and serene melody. Interestingly, Bach adapted this aria from an earlier duet for bass and violin (BWV 59), transposing it to F major and rescoring it for soprano and the warm, pastoral tones of the oboe da caccia, creating a new and distinctive character for this Pentecost celebration.
