The Décima is a poetic form consisting of ten lines, widely used in Spanish-speaking folk traditions. In Colombia, particularly in the Paisa region (Antioquia and the Coffee Axis), it is often sung with the rhythmic accompaniment of the Bambuco. The Bambuco is a traditional Colombian musical genre and dance, often in 6/8 or 3/4 time, which is considered a symbol of national identity. This piece combines the poetic structure of the Décima with the melodic and rhythmic patterns of the Bambuco and the traditional "trova paisa" singing style.
