Franz Schubert - Die Forelle

"Die Forelle" (The Trout) is a famous Lied by Franz Schubert, set to a poem by Christian Friedrich Daniel Schubart. Composed in 1817, it depicts a trout being caught by a fisherman, often interpreted as a metaphor for innocence betrayed. The cheerful melody later inspired Schubert's "Trout Quintet."
