Johann Pachelbel - Canon and Gigue in D major

Pachelbel's Canon in D major is one of the most famous and frequently performed Baroque compositions. Originally written for three violins and basso continuo, it follows a strict canon form over a repeating bass line (ground bass). Though largely forgotten for centuries, it experienced a tremendous revival in the 20th century and has since been arranged for countless instrument combinations and used in numerous weddings, commercials, and popular media.
