Jeremy Soule — Dragonborn

"Dragonborn" is a downloadable content (DLC) expansion for the popular open-world role-playing game "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim." It was released in December 2012 and introduced a wealth of new content and features to the game. Here are some interesting facts about the "Dragonborn" DLC for Skyrim:

  1. New Location: Solstheim: The DLC takes players to the island of Solstheim, an area fans of the series might remember from "The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind." Solstheim is located to the northeast of Skyrim and features a diverse landscape, including forests, ashlands, and snowy tundras.

  2. Dragon Riding: One of the standout features of "Dragonborn" is the ability for players to ride dragons. You can unlock this ability by progressing through the main questline of the DLC, and it allows you to soar through the skies on the back of a dragon.

  3. New Shouts: The expansion introduces a range of new dragon shouts for players to acquire, including Bend Will, which is instrumental in the main storyline. Bend Will allows you to control and ride dragons and interact with certain elements in the game.

  4. Miraak, the First Dragonborn: The primary antagonist of "Dragonborn" is Miraak, the first Dragonborn. He plays a crucial role in the DLC's storyline and possesses his own unique abilities and shouts.

  5. New Weapons and Armor: The DLC adds a variety of new weapons, armor sets, and crafting materials to the game. Some of the new equipment is inspired by the culture and aesthetics of the Dunmer, the native Dark Elves of Morrowind.

  6. Dunmer Influence: As Solstheim is an island with a significant Dunmer population, you'll find cultural elements from Morrowind, including architecture and lore, heavily integrated into the DLC.

  7. Apocrypha, the Daedric Realm: Much of the DLC's story takes place in Apocrypha, the realm of the Daedric Prince Hermaeus Mora. Apocrypha is a dark and surreal realm filled with mysterious knowledge and deadly dangers.

  8. Black Books: Players can collect Black Books in Apocrypha, which provide various abilities and powers when read. These books are central to the DLC's story and can have both positive and negative effects on your character.

  9. Follower: Serana: While Serana is introduced in the Dawnguard DLC, she becomes a permanent companion in "Dragonborn." She is a unique vampire follower with her own backstory and abilities.

  10. New Creatures: "Dragonborn" introduces new creatures and enemies, including Ash Spawn, Netches, and Lurkers. These adversaries add to the variety of challenges you'll face on Solstheim.

  11. Side Quests: Aside from the main storyline, the DLC offers numerous side quests, many of which delve into the lore and history of Solstheim and the Elder Scrolls universe.

  12. Riekling Followers: You can befriend and recruit Rieklings, a small goblin-like race native to Solstheim, as your followers. This adds a whimsical element to the DLC as you can lead a band of these little creatures into battle.

"Dragonborn" is widely regarded as one of the most engaging and content-rich expansions for Skyrim, adding a significant amount of gameplay hours and expanding the lore of the Elder Scrolls universe.
