He Who Would Valiant Be

"He Who Would Valiant Be" is a hymn written by John Bunyan in the 17th century, and the melody used for the hymn was later composed by Ralph Vaughan Williams. Vaughan Williams, an English composer, created the tune in the early 20th century for the English Hymnal, published in 1906.

Interestingly, Vaughan Williams was known for his contributions to English music, particularly for incorporating folk elements into his compositions. Besides his work on hymns, he composed symphonies, operas, and various other pieces that have left a lasting impact on the classical music world. "He Who Would Valiant Be" is one example of how he blended traditional and contemporary elements to create beautiful and enduring music.
