Misc Traditional - God Bless America

"God Bless America" is a patriotic song written by Irving Berlin during World War I in 1918. However, it wasn't introduced to the public until 1938, when singer Kate Smith first performed it on her radio show. The song gained popularity quickly and became one of the most iconic patriotic tunes in the United States.

Interestingly, Irving Berlin originally wrote the song as a "peace" song, not specifically for any war. He set it aside for two decades before deciding to revise and release it during the buildup to World War II, changing some lyrics to make it more fitting for the times. The song has since been a staple in American culture, often performed at significant events and celebrations.
