J.S. Bach - "Gloria in Excelsis Deo" from Mass in F Major, BWV 233 Sheet Music: 2 Verified Scores

Bach's Lutheran masses (Missa brevis) focused on Kyrie and Gloria to align with Protestant liturgy while accommodating Leipzig's unique Latin traditions. These works reused cantata material through parody technique.
The 'Domine Deus' is a duet for soprano and tenor from Bach's Missa brevis in F major, BWV 233. This mass, consisting of a Kyrie and Gloria, is one of four Lutheran masses Bach composed around 1738-39. Like the others, it is largely based on parodies (reworkings) of movements from his earlier church cantatas. The music is characterized by its intricate counterpoint, expressive vocal lines, and rich orchestration typical of the late Baroque period.
