Wim Mertens

Belgian composer, countertenor vocalist, pianist, and musicologist known for minimalist and contemporary classical works.Born in Neerpelt, Belgium. Studied social/political science at KU Leuven and musicology at Ghent University. Worked at BRT radio (1978-1982). Published influential book 'American Minimal Music' (1983). Debuted with 'For Amusement Only' (1980). Founded label Music & Words (1990s). Composed scores for film, theater, and television.
