Trepak is a lively Russian dance from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's famous ballet "The Nutcracker." It is based on the traditional Ukrainian folk dance of the same name (also known as tropak). Characterized by its vigorous tempo and 2/4 time signature, it features energetic jumps and squat-kicking movements. In the ballet, it serves as one of the character dances in the Divertissement section of Act II, representing Russian culture alongside other national dances.
