Gabriel Fauré - Dolly Suite, Op. 56: No. 2. Mi-a-ou

The "Dolly Suite", Op. 56, is a collection of short pieces for piano four-hands composed by Gabriel Fauré. It was written between 1893 and 1896 for Hélène Bardac, the young daughter of the singer Emma Bardac, whom Fauré adored and nicknamed "Dolly". The second piece, "Mi-a-ou", is not, as the title might suggest, about a cat, but is instead a lively and charming portrait. The title is actually a child's mispronunciation of "Monsieur Raoul", the name of Dolly's brother. The suite is one of Fauré's most popular and accessible works, showcasing his elegant and refined style.
